Personal growth is a life long journey that is one you will need to put consistent work into. So I am sharing my my helpful self growth ideas in this summer personal growth challenge to help you really challenge yourself! You can work through the 25 days of this personal growth challenge this summer to end the season as a better version of yourself.

Before we fully jump into the challenge I want to talk about the importance of personal growth. So you can really know why doing a personal growth challenge is so important!

The reasons personal growth is so important:

  • Personal growth is the best way to ensure you are focusing on becoming the best version of you. Without putting work into self growth you may be just coasting along and not putting enough work into becoming a better you.
  • It is also so helpful for your relationships- romantic, friendship, family, even professional. When you grow as a person you often because a better communicator and generally better at participating in healthy relationships.
  • Personal growth helps you discover what you really want out of life. It can help you figure out what you want your future to look like which is essential for actually making that future happen.
  • It can relieve stress and help you overall live a happier life.

Now that we have chatted about why personal growth is important let’s jump into this challenge so you can start growing and working on yourself this summer time!

Summer 2023 Personal Growth Challenge To Really Challenge Yourself!

Self growth ideas to help you really grow:

Day 1: Make a list of your passions.

This first day is so helpful for starting your personal growth journey.

It’s simple but can really get you in touch with what you really love and what is a priority to you. Just sit down and grab a notebook and just start making a brainstormed list of all of the things you are passionate about and what inspires you.

Then you can go back over the list and evaluate which you believe are truly the most important to you. This will help you realize what you should focus on during your personal growth efforts. And it will help you stay in touch with your emotions and what you really want rather than what you may think you (or others) want to be a priority on the surface level.

Day 2: Choose and start doing 5 daily affirmations.

Positive daily affirmations are so helpful and wonderful for starting every day the right way.

Here are some of my favorite daily affirmations if you are new to doing them:

  • I am capable of anything I want to do.
  • I have learned the right skills to succeed.
  • My future is determined by only me.
  • I am worthy of love.
  • I find joy in daily occurrences.

Day 3: Create a positive morning routine.

Take the time to create and start implementing the morning routine that will work the best for you.

Think about what you wish you were doing every morning. As well as what things you could do in the morning to improve yourself and grow.

I have my self improvement morning routine that you can get some inspiration from here.

Day 4: Listen to more podcasts

Podcasts are a great way to practice self growth. There are so many different podcasts out there for any area of personal growth that you are wanting to work on.

You can learn so many new things while also doing daily tasks like commuting to work and folding laundry!

Day 5: Get out of your comfort zone regularly.

Getting out of your comfort zone means a lot more than just traveling to a new place (though travel is important, read about that below).

It means taking on new projects at work. You could start picking up a hobby you have always wanted to try. Or just trying new restaurants and coffee shops.

Making an effort to at least once a month but ideally once a week get out of your comfort zone can be life changing and is one of the most important steps for personal growth in your twenties.

If you want more inspiration and tips for this I have a video here all about getting out of your comfort zone.

Day 6: Work on forgiving yourself.

Take 30 minutes on this day of your personal growth challenge and think about anything you are holding onto and are angry about yourself.

Jot down those items and then for every single thing you wrote down say out loud that you forgive yourself and are going to try and move on from it.

Forgiveness is a super important part of actually growing as a person.

Day 7: Read a few chapters from a book daily to expand your mind.

Reading a bit every day is one of the best things you can do to continue to learn as an adult and keep your mind growing. I recommend incorporating at least some non-fiction into your books!

I also recommend grabbing a Kindle and a Kindle unlimited plan so that this actually will be affordable compared to buying new books all the time!

Day 8: Learn about yourself.

The next step you need to do to truly grow as a person is to make sure you learn about yourself. Personal growth in your 20s is all about becoming the best you but you need to learn about yourself in order to accomplish that part of the journey.

One of the best ways to complete this step is through journaling!

I have some lists of journal prompts that can help you with this step:

Day 9: Learn to overcome perfectionism

Perfectionism is one of the things that holds you back from truly growing and bettering yourself.

Overcoming perfectionism can be a real struggle but I have a full guide on my site right here!

Day 10: Stop comparing yourself to others.

Comparison can really destroy your motivation and mental well being. Which can put a sharp stop to your personal growth.

I recommend starting this with social media by reminding yourself that it isn’t a realistic look into others lives and that they have struggles too that you can’t see.

Day 11: Take a free online course

I am a huge supporter of learning new things as an adult and taking free online courses is a great way to do that. Interested in astronomy? Photography? Digital marketing? There is free courses online for everything and anything!

Growing as a person includes learning new things and online courses are a fantastic way to do this.

Day 12: Volunteer regularly to improve your life and the life of others

Volunteering is an absolute win.

You help out other and your community while also having personal growth.

Take this day to find the right organization/place for you to volunteer that properly uses your knowledge, skills, and passions!

Day 13: Do a social media audit.

For this day of the personal growth challenge I recommend committing some time to doing a social media audit.

What this primarily means is going through and unfollowing anyone who you don’t enjoy following, doesn’t provide any benefits or entertainment, or who stressed you out. Remember you are not obligated to follow anyone!

Day 14: Learn to wake up earlier in the morning.

Waking up earlier in the morning helps set you up for a better and more productive day.

It’s amazing what a difference waking up earlier in the morning can have to improving your days. I have a guide on waking up early here! Making sure you have enough time in the day to grow can be so important for self growth.

Day 15: Try mentoring someone

Being a mentor is a great way to improve yourself while helping others.

You are spreading knowledge while also keeping sharp on your skills. And it is a great way to connect with others as well. Personal growth looks different in different situations and this is a day where it may look a bit different but it can be so helpful for your growth journey.

Day 16: Start a habit journal

Starting a habit journal is a great way to start tracking your current habits and then forming new, positive habits.

Tracking new habits is the best way to make them actually stick. And making new positive habits is one of the best self growth ideas to truly better your life for the long term.

Day 17:  Learn to take criticism to grow from it.

Criticism is one of the best ways to have personal growth and personal improvement.

By hearing what people you admire think you can do better either professional or personally is a huge part of growing as a person.

Check out these tips if you need help with taking criticism better!

Day 18: Create a one year plan.

Next up is a simple but helpful personal growth activity- sit down and make a plan for what you want the next 365 days to look like.

Remember a lot of this personal growth challenge is about figuring out what you want your future to look like.

Day 19: Learn to actively listen to others.

Do some research for this important one of the self growth activities and learn how to actively listen to others.

This day is great for helping with that benefit of improving your relationships!

Day 20: Learn to unplug from your phone

Okay, you hear all the time that having no screen time and unplugging from your phone is important for your mental health and physical wellness.

But do you actually do it? And do you know how?

If not then check out this unplug from your phone guide! It really is important to have time where you are present in the moment and focusing on yourself and your loved ones. This is one of the most important self growth ideas to start implementing!

Day 21: Find a stress coping mechanism that works for you.

Everyone gets stressed out! But taking the time to find stress coping mechanisms that work for you is so essential for becoming the most amazing version of yourself.

Day 22: Make an ultimate goals list.

This is one of my personal favorites of the self growth ideas!

Making a huge list of every big and small goal you want to complete is so motivating. And it can really help you make sure you are staying on track with your big life goals.

Day 23: Declutter your home and digital life.

I have two helpful posts for this day.

For decluttering your home check this out and for decluttering your digital life check this one.

Having a clutter free life helps ensure that there are not things surrounding you that are holding you back from growth.

Day 24: Write a letter to yourself in 5,10, and 20 years.

This day is so great because it lets you really think about what you want your life to look like in the future.

It is also just a wonderful way to help you really motivate yourself to grow and improve. So that when you look back at those letters you can know you did it all!

Day 25: Make a list of everything you are proud of.

Sit down for 30 minutes on this final day of the personal growth challenge and make this list.

This day is so great for helping you remember that you have already achieved amazing things and you can do more! Include big and little things on this list. Seriously anything that you are proud of from your life.
