Idea 1: At home spa day

This first idea for free ways you can treat yourself is one that will really vary depending on what you find calming and fun.

If that means painting your nails then do that! If painting your own nails stresses you out (like me!) then do a face mask. Or you can DIY a hair mask – use Pinterest to find DIY hair and skin care recipes.

This could mean using that electric back massager that you have had sitting in a box since you got it for Christmas!

But at the end of the day it is all about what you would find the most relaxing and refreshing at the spa. And then doing those things at home with supplies that you already have at home.

Idea 2: Read a book

Reading is an amazing way to escape your every day stresses.

If you don’t have a book that you want to read at home then head to your local library and check one out for free!

Also, if you have a Kindle or similar device you can often log into your local libraries online database for free and check out books on there as well.

Idea 3: Walk around a local landmark

Get outside and be a tourist in your own city.

This is a great way to treat yourself to an enjoyable day that doesn’t cost anything. And it gets you out of the house and enjoying some fresh air.

Plus, a lot of us get so caught up in our daily lives that we forget to slow down and appreciate what our own homes have to offer!

Idea 4: Create a happy playlist

Music is an incredible tool for helping your mood. And making specific playlists can really be a fun and enjoyable way to have a little treat yourself time but for free.

I generally recommend making playlists for lots of different moods and scenarios and for days when you need a happiness boost is no exception.

So sit down for 30 minus and make a hype you up/happiness playlist that you can listen to in the future when you need a happiness boost.

Idea 5: Take a relaxing bath

Spending some time alone and relaxing in a warm bath is a great experience.

You can really step up your bath experience to truly treat yourself by lighting some candles, putting a bath bomb or oils in the tub, and watching a show or reading a book you love.

It is up to you and whatever would make the bath experience a truly treat yourself experience.

You can even play your happy playlist that you made to really set the mood for this bath or play a more calm and realizing playlist. Depending on the mood that you want to set for this free treating yourself experience!

Idea 6: Put affirmations around your home

Affirmations are a wonderful way to encourage and motivate yourself.

So treat yourself by picking some of your favorite affirmations and putting them on sticky notes throughout your home.

Idea 7: Journal

Journaling is a fantastic way to connect with yourself and take care of your own emotions.

Get a journal (like this one from Target) and start following some prompts that are relevant to your life. Here are a few journal prompt lists that I have:

Idea 8: Bake yourself a treat

The final of the zero spend ideas is to bake yourself a treat.

Going to buy a treat is a common idea for treating yourself but you don’t have to spend any money to get a tasty treat. You can bake one yourself!

And make it your favorite treat. Not anyone else’s favorite treat just yours because this is your opportunity to treat yourself and focus on something that you want.
