The Realistic Guide To Becoming “That Girl”

How to realistically become the woman you want to be:

Step 1: Define what that girl really looks like for you

This is the easiest and hardest step because it is low effort however it is crucial that you be totally honest with yourself.

This step isn’t about what you think others would think a dream life looks like. It isn’t about goals or desires that anyone else in your life has set for you.

It is all about YOU and what your heart and mind agree is your that girl lifestyle.

To help you with this step I recommend grabbing a notebook and answering these questions-

  • What areas of my life need the most important?
  • Which parts of my life am I already proud of and satisfied with?
  • What do I wish was drastically different in my life?
  • What do I picture my dream life looks like in 10 years?

Once you answer those questions use what you wrote to help give you a synopsis of your thoughts.

Step 2: Create a vision board

Vision boards are one of my favorite ways to transform your life and get a visual on what that girl life looks like for you too.

A vision board helps you really think about what you want your life to look like. Which is the first big step towards actually creating the life you want! In order to keep following this glow up challenge it is so important to have an idea of what you are working on transforming your life towards.

So either make a physical vision board or a digital vision board on day one. If you want some inspiration for your digital vision board check this tutorial out.

Step 3: Disconnect from your phone for an hour.

Getting off your phone is so important for keeping you in touch with those around you and being more present guys!!

And part of transforming yourself is focusing on becoming the best version of yourself. You can’t be that girl unless it’s from both the inside and the outside!

And lowering your screen time and doing better things with your time is so helpful for focusing on bettering yourself.

It also gives you an hour a day where you are focusing on yourself and not others! And spending less time on your phone has been shown to help you better your mood as well as all the other benefits.

Step 4: Make a 5 year plan

Five year plans are an amazing way to think about what you want to do and accomplish in the next few years. It can be very inspirational and motivating.

However, it’s important to remember that so many things don’t go as planned (2020 and 2021 really taught us that!) so don’t stress if not everything on your five year plan happens.

So take the time to write down a five year plan including all of the different elements of your life. Include your family, relationships, career, academics, health, etc. A five year plan should include every part of what makes your life…well your life!

Step 5: Start doing daily journal prompts everyday.

For this step I recommend getting a journal if you don’t already have one and finding a list of daily journal prompts to start with.

There are so many benefits to daily journaling. It helps you really get in touch with your true emotions and thoughts. And help you to reflect on what is happening with your days and your whole life.

Implementing daily journaling can be a bit challenging! So here are some tips for how to add daily journaling to your days:

  • Make it a part of either your morning or night routine. Whichever routine is the most stable for you and doesn’t change often.
  • Keep your journal somewhere visible (like your nightstand) so when you see it you remember.
  • If possible set a timer on your phone for the time of the day you prefer to journal.
  • Make journaling it’s own little routine. For example, if you journal in the morning make it a routine to grab your journal, make your coffee, and then sit in the same quiet place to journal.

I have a whole bunch of journal prompt posts you could check out:

I also have a YouTube video (linked here) with letter to yourself prompts that can help with this day as well.

Step 6: Start forming an actionable plan.

After you know what you want your dream life to be it’s time to start forming an actionable plan.

You probably have heard of SMART goals in school or work. And the idea of SMART goals is so important but I won’t tell you they need to be formatted like that. But I do really advise making an actionable plan for what you can do to make this dream life happen.

I find that just making a list of actionable steps you can take for achieving each element of your dream life is a simple but efficient way to do this!

Also, a little bonus tip is to make this action plan and then put it somewhere visible. When you keep keep your plan somewhere you see every day you are more likely to stick to it. I always recommend putting it in your closet or bathroom so you see it every single morning.

I also recommend grabbing a notebook like this “action plan notebook” for working on this step!

Step 7: Hold yourself accountable!!

Accountability is so important.

Honestly I can’t stress enough how important it is to hold yourself accountable in order to start living your best life.

You need to be honest with yourself and then also hold yourself accountable to the actionable steps that you made. If you aren’t holding yourself accountable then who will? Also, it can get a bit lonely on the journey of self improvement and creating your dream life. So it’s often best to focus on your own accountability rather than depending on others.

A good way to work on holding yourself accountable is to do a monthly check in at the end of every month. At the check in look at what progress you made this month and what you can do better or more of next month.
