Cozy Hobbies For Staying Warm Indoors!

Ideas for a cozy hobby to pick up-

Cozy hobby idea: knitting or crocheting

First up is the first hobby that probably comes to a lot of our minds when we think of cozy hobbies- knitting / crocheting!

I never lie to you guys- this isn’t one I have taken up yet. But so many of my family and friends do (half the reason I don’t want to, I have an endless supply of hand crocheted items lol!) and it is just all the right vibes for staying inside and staying cozy.

There are sooo many videos on YouTube with tutorials of how to start and free patterns online to use so don’t let the learning process scare you. The hobby isn’t about being perfect either, it’s about spending time doing something real with your hands!!

Cozy hobby idea: reading!

This one is my personal favorite cozy hobby… well and summer at the pool hobby… maybe I just really love to read! But I also really think that reading benefits every single person.

No matter the type of books you enjoy there is something out there for you. And reading keeps your imagination active, your brain sharp, and gives you an escape from our chaotic world.

Plus with the power of Kindles now you can spend way less on reading as a hobby (I am a huge fan of kindle unlimited) and it’s way easier to bring your current book with you.

Cozy hobby idea: painting

Next up is one that is for my creative friends on here- painting is an amazing way to get your creative juices flowing and help you make something REAL.

You don’t need to be Bob Ross to enjoy painting either- there is no one judging you. There is no standard for what you have to paint or how it has to look. The hobby is to enjoy yourself and have a creative outlet.

Cozy hobby idea: calligraphy

I feel that calligraphy is one of the most underrated hobbies out there.

Not only is it so freaking impressive when someone is good at it, but it actually can come in handy! Being able to hand letter gorgeous invitations or thank you cards is just so cool.

Plus it’s an easy hobby to pick up- head to YouTube for tutorials and grab a basic supply kit online for cheap.

Cozy hobby idea: journaling

Journaling is something I talk about on here ALL THE TIME because I swear by it. Journaling is the best hobby for getting your emotions out, figuring out your true thoughts and feelings, and allowing you to be creative at the same time.

Here are some of my favorite journaling prompt articles to get you started-

Cozy hobby idea: learn an instrument

Learning an instrument is a great way to spend your time indoors hiding from the weather outside.

Is there an instrument you have always wanted to play? Or one you used to but could you a refresher on? Don’t be afraid to make that your new hobby and priority. And once again- head to YouTube for tutorials on how to play the instrument you’re wanting to learn.

Cozy hobby idea: baking pastries

Okay for real is there a cozier hobby than baking pastries? I think not!!

Start with a recipe board on Pinterest with all the pastries you want to create then get to it.

Oh and don’t be afraid to send me some when you’re done ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cozy hobby idea: indoor plants

Plants do not need to be a passion that is just for spring and summer! While I adore gardening there is something so special about indoor plants that you get to care for and grow the whole year long.

And honestly my indoor plants definitely get extra attention in the winter months because I have the time to focus on them. Oh and don’t listen to anyone who says indoor plants shouldn’t be repotted in the winter- when they out grow their pots they need repotted regardless of the season. And other than sunlight hours they have no clue what month it is guys!

Cozy hobby idea: embroidery

Another hobby on here that I swear is addicting is embroidery!

I love both an embroidery kit (here are some cozy winter ones) and free styling to add cute touches to clothes, napkins, etc. Really there is no fabric in my home that is safe from an embroidery project.

Cozy hobby idea: language learning

Who says a cozy hobby can’t also be productive?!

Leave the winter months more advanced in the language of your choice! Embrace the time inside to learn more and practice your language learning.

Here are my best tips for language learning if you want to add this hobby to your life- How To Really Learn a New Language This Year

Cozy hobby idea: scrapbooking

A years worth of memories need to be properly appreciated and preserved – which is where scrapbooking comes in!

And NO it’s not just for our moms okay. Being creative and making sure our memories are saved somewhere besides the “cloud” is so important. And fun too seriously give it a try before you judge ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cozy hobby idea: jewelry making

Jewelry making is such a fun hobby and one that you get to wear around and show off all the time.

Plus to be honest I believe you can buy the supplies and make jewelry for cheaper than most of the store bought options.

Cozy hobby idea: listen to podcasts

Podcasts can be as educational or as pure entertaining as you want them to be.

Either way they provide a cozy hobby that you can enjoy inside your home.

Cozy hobby idea: upcycling clothes

Get crafty, save money, and keep clothes out of landfills by learning to upcycle your clothes!

Head to YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram for helpful ideas and tutorials for how you can start this fun and fulfilling hobby.

Cozy hobby idea: creating content

Embrace the modern world we live in and create fun content! Creating content doesn’t need to be with a goal of getting famous or making money. It can simply be a fun hobby for you to enjoy!!

Cozy hobby idea: quilting

The final cozy hobby is like the ultimate one- quilting.

And this isn’t just for grandmas okay, quilting is a great hobby to make things with your hands and have a gorgeous and cozy quilt at the end of it too.

And that is all for now my friends! I hope that this article gave you some fun ideas for a cozy hobby to pick up during these chilly winter months!!
