Trying to have a more positive mindset can be a transforming change to make in your life. But it can be so overwhelming to try and figure out where to start with forming that positive mindset! Which is why today we are going to be discussing and breaking down these life changing habits to help you have a positive mindset.

A small piece of advice before we get into these habits- implement them slowly!

If you try to add a bunch of new habits to your days at once it will be too much and chances are you will burn out from them and zero of the habits will stick.

So instead I recommend going through this list and finding the habit that calls out to you the most and start adding that habit to your life first. Then once it has firmly become a part of your life you can add the next habit and so on.

Positive mindset habits to learn:

Habit 1: Practice daily gratitude

Gratitude is an essential thing for having a more positive life and positive mindset.

It allows you to keep things in perspective and be honest about the positives in your life. Which are so helpful for having more balance in your life.

So if you are lacking that mentality of thankfulness and gratitude then you need to start learning how to! When you are thankful for the things in your life and regularly taking the time to think about your blessings you will feel yourself start to feel more intentional.

One of the best ways to do this is to start doing daily gratitude journaling. This doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment. Just grab a gratitude journal (here’s one that is less than $10) and add it into your night time routine. It should only take about 10 minutes but it can really help you feel more grateful and happier.

Habit 2: Say positive affirmations each day

This is a habit that won’t take up much time but can immediately give you a small dose of positivity every single day.

Which can help you transform into having a more positive mindset overall in your life.

A few examples of positive affirmations are:

  • “I am a confident person”
  • “I know that I can achieve my dreams”
  • “Today I will not let my mistakes define me”
  • “I believe great things are coming for me”
  • “I am a kind and caring person”

Habit 3: Move your body daily

Moving your body is a great way to get your mind and body in synch. And that is so helpful for living a positive and mindful life.

This doesn’t have to be a crazy intense workout either. You can walk the dog or do an online yoga class.

Anything you can do to get your body moving each day can be truly helpful for having intentional days.

Habit 4: Avoid negative people

Is there someone (or multiple people) in your life that cause you constant negativity? That bring down your mood? And step all over your positivity?

Then it’s time to cut those people out of your life. Work on this habit by slowly not allowing them to interfere with your day to day life.

This can be challenging but is so helpful but creating a positive mindset and a more positive life.

Habit 5: Practice living in the moment

Living in the moment is a huge part of feeling happier and is a super important habit for having a positive mindset.

When you are constantly thinking about the past or worrying about the future you aren’t going to be feeling as happy as you could be. Start making a conscious effort to live in the moment! And be present with what is going on around you is so essential for living a happy life.

One big way that you can do this is to spend less time on your phone. If you are checking emails and start worrying about work on Monday or looking at Instagram and seeing someone do something fun that you want to do then you aren’t being present.

I recommend starting to commit at least an hour a day to no phone time. This will help you practice starting to be in the moment more! I also have some tips on disconnecting from your phone that you can read here that should help.

Habit 6: Meditation

Meditation is an incredible tool for working on becoming more positive. And to achieve that positive mindset on a deeper level.

When you are meditating you are alone with your thoughts and focusing 100% of your energy on those thoughts. Which allows you to eliminate distractions and pressures from the rest of the world. Which ultimately can help you see yourself more realistically and become more aware.

I recommend either downloading a meditation app or just searching for videos on YouTube until you find a guided one that works for you as you start meditating. And then grab a yoga/meditation matand start working on meditation and figuring out your true self.
