Christmas decor is something that I look forward to literally all year round. But as a young couple we are still building up our Christmas decor collection which means lots of time shopping online for Christmas decor and looking at all of the 2021 Christmas decor trends. And now I want to share the best ones out there with you so you can save some time and still find the best Christmas decor finds for modern homes!
Also, I do really recommend checking out thrift stores for holiday decor. Trends repeat themselves and it is amazing how many great finds you can get there and there is so many benefits of that! Trend 1: Cement accents
Above is one example but there is so many cool cement accents out there for the holidays this year and I am here for it. They are durable (great for those of us with a pet like me or children that could damage them) and will last for a long time. Also love how versatile they are in terms of different colors you use this year or future years.
Trend 2: Teardrop ornaments
This is a trend that comes in and out of trend often but it is one of my favorites. So I was thrilled to see teardrop ornaments all over this year as a trend. They add such a fun texture and design to any Christmas tree no matter the general style you are going for.
Trend 3: Unique garland
I am obsessed with all of these fun and unique garlands I am seeing around. The one above is a gorgeous champagne option that would look amazing on basically any mantle. There are also so many other unique garlands for sale now and that is such a cool way to spice up your mantle or along a table runner. Or really anywhere you want to add a unique touch to your holiday decor!
Trend 4: Metal wreaths
Okay these are not only so cool but they are also way more durable and weather resistant compared to other reusable wreaths for your door. But really the coolness of metal wreaths is why they are on this list because this is such a fun trend that I hope stays around for a while! But remember- if you love something then no need to worry about the trends. Just keep using it because the holidays aren’t about trends! This list is for fun and inspiration but don’t let it make you think you can’t or have to use certain things.
Trend 5: Matte black elements
I am so into all of the matte black elements that are huge this year for the holidays. They are so cool and add such a modern touch to your holiday decor. The nutcrackers I linked above are the perfect example of this decor trend and they are also such an awesome spin on the standard nutcracker decor piece.
Trend 6: Unique lanterns
This is a trend that is so great because you can put your personal touch on it so you can get a trendy item that you can continue to use for a long time. These brass lanterns are so cool and trendy but there is still a classic vibe to them. Honestly, you could use a lot of the trendy lanterns that are being sold during the holidays year round!
Trend 7: Cable knit textiles
This trend has been here for a minute and it isn’t going away anytime soon. They are so cozy and bring such a great aesthetic to your home. I love that the one I linked above is the perfect red shade for the holidays. But there are cable knit pillows and throw blankets available in literally every color so you can definitely find one that works for your home and your holiday style. Also cable knit pillows work great to layer with other pillows for a super cozy vibe in your living spaces or bedrooms.
Trend 8: Over the top tree toppers
Let’s ignore the pun on the name of this trend! But I love all of the super fun and over the top tree toppers that are trending this year. The one above is such a cool starburst shaped one that has LED lights on it! But there are so many other designs and options for over the top tree toppers all over stores and the internet this year. Definitely adds a super modern touch to any Christmas tree!
Trend 9: Wood Christmas trees
The final trend for Christmas decor 2021 I want to chat about is all of the wood trees. If you have opened Pinterest or Instagram recently you have probably seen the styling of wood trees. They are such a simple yet fun trend to incorporate into your holiday decor this year.
