Habits To Help You Live A Balanced Life!

Use these to create balance in your life:

Habit 1: Practice daily gratitude

Gratitude is an essential thing for having a more balanced life. It allows you to keep things in perspective and be honest about the positives in your life. Which are so helpful for having more balance in your life.

So if you are lacking that mentality of thankfulness and gratitude then you need to start learning how to! When you are thankful for the things in your life and regularly taking the time to think about your blessings you will feel yourself start to feel balance within your life.

One of the best ways to do this is to start doing daily gratitude journaling. This doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment. Just grab a gratitude journal (here’s one that is less than $10) and add it into your night time routine. It should only take about 10 minutes but it can really help you feel more grateful and happier.

Habit 2: Avoid people that cause drama and conflict

This is another very important habit to start adding to your life if you want to be have a balanced life.

Truly balanced and happy people do not waste their time, energy, and mental wellness on other peoples lives and drama.

If you want to start feeling happier each day then it is time for you to learn this habit and stop thinking and talking about everyone else’s drama. If you find yourself in a social situation where everyone else is gossiping try to steer the conversation into something more positive. Eventually this habit will start to feel more natural and can have a positive impact on the people around you.

Also, another way to avoid drama is to be conscious about the media you consume. Specifically the social media! If you follow a lot of people that share drama and cause drama then try unfollowing them or at least muting them so you don’t see their negative content on your social media feeds.

Habit 3: Don’t go on your phone right away in the morning

Starting your day on the right foot can set you up for balanced days. And each day matters when you are working on creating balance in your life.

Making sure that you are not on your phone right away in the morning is one of the best ways to have calmer mornings.

You don’t need to be immediately thinking about something you saw on social media or thinking about a work email. Allow yourself to wake up and take care of yourself for a bit before you start thinking about the rest of the world.

And don’t worry about perfection, it’s more important to make any efforts!

Habit 4: Ask for help when needed and listen to guidance

Asking for help is vital to having balance in your life because you aren’t taking on things that you shouldn’t be the one doing.

If you are unwilling to ask your support system (both personal or work) for help when you have too much on your plate then yes you will be stressed out and will be lacking balance.

A lot of us don’t like to show when we are stressed but ultimately it is better for both you and those around you for you to ask for help before you completely burn out

Habit 5: Make time for your hobby or passions

Balance isn’t just about work and relationships and school – it is also about making time and prioritizing your hobby or passions.

If all you do is work and family responsibilities then you don’t have a healthy outlet that brings you joy and stress-free time. And that doesn’t mean to ignore your work, school, kids, partner or anything like that. It just means that you need balance in your life and a healthy outlet so you can be your happiest and best self.

So start making your healthy outlets and hobbies more of a priority if you want to live a less stressful life.

This can also be one of the most helpful forms of self-care!

Habit 6: Make a healthy lifestyle and workouts a priority

You have to prioritize your physical health if you want to stress less and have more balance.

If you are happier and healthier you are much less likely to feel negative emotions that lead you to feeling stressed out. Make sure you are eating healthy food that help your body feel healthier in addition to regularly getting exercise.

Also, if you are getting regular exercise try making some of it outdoors! Fresh air can also help you feel calmer and less stressed out.

Ultimately this habit isn’t about building muscles or going to the gym daily or looking a certain way, it is about prioritizing your bodies needs and finding that balance in your life.

Habit 7: Meditate/stretch/yoga.

I left this habit pretty vague because of course it is up to you and your preferences! If you don’t currently meditate, stretch, or do yoga then I recommend trying each one to see what works best for you and your lifestyle.

Then once you know or if you already have one then this is a great habit to start incorporating into your calm morning routine. It doesn’t have to be for long but even doing 15 minutes of one of these can really make you start your day feeling calm and intentional.

Finding the right one for you is deeply personal but the inspiration will help you getting balance no matter which is best for you.

Habit 8: Do a daily journal prompt.

Daily journaling is an incredible tool for connecting with yourself and really putting effort into self discovery and self improvement.

And by committing that time in the morning you can truly help yourself get into the right mindset to have calmer and more relaxed days full of balance. Journaling can get you in touch with what you are needing in life and is a great way to de-stress and deal with your anxieties.

Habit 9: Communicate your feelings.

If you are holding things in or belittling your feelings to others then you will have a much harder time feeling happy and balanced.

I do want to add a disclaimer here that this habit is often incorrectly interpreted. Expressing your feelings is important! But that does not mean that you have to say everything that crosses your mind without thinking about how it will impact others. If you don’t need to say something negative to someone or if you are still in a rash/angry state of mind then take an hour before you say anything. This can help you not lash out at others!

That being said- if you have waited a bit to calm down it is important to discuss your emotions with others. Especially those that are the closest to you! If you are always putting on a “mask” and pretending that everything is okay then nothing will ever change. Or improve that can make you feel happier in the long run.

Also, express your happy emotions and feelings too!

We often focus on communicating just the sad or frustrating emotions but it’s also important to express happiness and celebrate with others too.
