Self care is one of the best ways you can ensure that you are taking care of yourself and not burning out! And what better way to make sure you are taking care of yourself then a helpful 20 day self care challenge. Try these self care ideas to start finding your best self.
Before we get into the self care challenge we need to talk about what this challenge is and why self care is so important!
What is a Self Care Challenge?
A self care challenge is a way of holding yourself accountable to taking care of yourself. A way to ensure you are taking care of your mental and physical wellness.
We will talk about the benefits of self care in a second but a self care challenge is a list of self care ideas that you do on consecutive days to really stick to taking care of yourself.
This challenge is 20 days because from my experiences 20 days is a length of days that is helpful but also attainable for sticking to really any challenge!
What are the benefits of self care?
- Self care helps improve your mental and emotional wellness.
- Helps you prioritize your physical wellness.
- Assists with helping cultivate personal relationships.
- Self care helps you learn more about yourself.
- It actually helps you be in a better mindset to be more productive.
So as you see it is very important for you to prioritize self care in your life and doing a self care challenge is one of the best ways to ensure you actually do self care items!

20 Day Self Care Challenge:
Day 1: Start your challenge with a long walk outside and breathing in the fresh air. Remember that fresh air is good for your mental and physical wellness.
Day 2: Bake your favorite sweet comfort food. And make sure that it is your favorite sweet treat not anyone else’s.
Day 3: Do a spa night with face masks, at home manicures, and a relaxing bath. Bonus points if you use some relaxing bath bombs!
Day 4: Create a gratitude list of everything you are thankful for in your life. This is also an item I recommend doing regularly. It is good for your soul!
Day 5: Buy yourself flowers and put them somewhere you will see them every day. Fresh flowers can bring you so much joy and are a great way to treat yourself.
Day 6: Spread kindness in your community by doing a random act of kindness. Here is 51 Ideas For Random Acts Of Kindness.
Day 7: Make a vision board or a mood board- whichever aligns for you better. Search ideas on Pinterest if you need some inspiration or fun ideas for your boards.
Day 8: Make a self care playlist full of your favorite happy songs. You can then use that playlist later down the road if you need a little pick me up.
Day 9: Write a love letter to yourself that you can read in the future on a bad day. Doing a self care challenge is a great way to set yourself up for bad days in the future so you have tools to handle them.
Day 10: Have a one person dance party (maybe to that playlist from day 8 of the self care challenge)!
You’re halfway through the challenge! Pat yourself on the back for staying consistent with your self care and then keep going.
Day 11: Try a new guided meditation- there are lots of free ones on YouTube. This is a wonderful way to relax yourself and practice regular self care.
Day 12: Write down 5 positive affirmations and put them somewhere (like your mirror) that you will see every day.
Day 13: Unplug from your phone for a few hours. Do a social media detox! Here is so me tips for this- How To Unplug From Your Phone Every Day.
Day 14: Make a cup of tea and read for 30 minutes. I find this to be extra wonderful if you are able to read alone. Try getting up earlier before others in your household wake up!
Day 15: Make a list of 10 great things that happened today. Focusing on the positives is incredible self care.
Day 16: Drink a gallon of water- add fruit to make it more fun and flavorful. I use this fruit infusion water bottle (link here) and it is so great for helping me drink consistent water.
Day 17: Create a bucket list of everything you want to do this year!
Day 18: Watch your favorite movie and make a fun snack. Again, remember to make this your favorite movie and your favorite snack not anyone else’s favorites.

Day 20: Buy yourself something nice that you have been wanting for a while. Treat yourself!
And you did it! You completed the challenge!

Remember that this challenge is all about making yourself and your life a priority. You are 100% worth making yourself your top priority and hopefully this self care challenge can help you really do that. But also remember to be kind and patient with yourself if you are struggling to get through the challenge.
If you miss a day that is totally fine! Just remind yourself that you’re human and then start again the next day.
