8 Self Love Habits You Need To Have In Your Life
Habits to help you practice self love:
Habit 1: Say positive affirmations each day
This is a habit that won’t take up much time but can immediately give you a small dose of self love every single day.
Positive affirmations are a great way to keep positivity and self love on your mind.
A few examples are:
- “I am a confident person”
- “I know that I can achieve my dreams”
- “Today I will not let my mistakes define me”
- “I believe great things are coming for me”
- “I am a kind and caring person”

Habit 2: Journal each morning or night
Take today as a starting point and start to figure out what time of the day and how to incorporate daily journaling into your life.
Reflecting on your days are a great way to stay in touch with your true thoughts and emotions which is an important part of loving yourself- to know what you are genuinely feeling. Which is so important for your mental wellness.
Habit 3: Take time off social media each day
Logging off of social media has a lot of benefits. It helps you be in the moment and gives you an opportunity to be present with those around you. And present with your own thoughts!
And social media can be harmful to your mental peace if you are not being careful with who you follow and what media you are consuming. So to take control of your peace today try this idea of turning off your social media apps for a bit today.
Habit 4: Practice daily gratitude
Gratitude is an essential thing for having a life filled with internal love. It allows you to keep things in perspective and be honest about the positives in your life. Which are so helpful for having more balance in your life.
So if you are lacking that mentality of thankfulness and gratitude then you need to start learning how to! When you are thankful for the things in your life and regularly taking the time to think about your blessings you will feel yourself start to feel balance within your life.
One of the best ways to do this is to start doing daily gratitude journaling. This doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment. Just grab a gratitude journal (here’s one that is less than $10) and add it into your night time routine. It should only take about 10 minutes but it can really help you feel more grateful and happier.
Habit 5: Be optimistic today
This is one of my personal favorite habits for doing self love. Writing down things you are optimistic about is an amazing way to put you into a better mood.
And practicing regular optimism can help you become a more optimistic person even if you aren’t naturally an optimistic person.
If you are struggling with this habit I recommend taking the time to figure out why optimism is something that you are having difficulties with and how you can address those issues!
Habit 6: Avoid people that cause drama and conflict
This is another very important habit to start adding to your life if you want to have more self love and also happiness.
Truly balanced and happy people do not waste their time, energy, and mental wellness on other peoples lives and drama.
If you want to start feeling happier each day then it is time for you to learn this habit and stop thinking and talking about everyone else’s drama. If you find yourself in a social situation where everyone else is gossiping try to steer the conversation into something more positive. Eventually this habit will start to feel more natural and can have a positive impact on the people around you.
Habit 7: Ask for help when needed and listen to guidance
Asking for help is vital to having self love in your life because you aren’t taking on things that you shouldn’t be the one doing.
If you are unwilling to ask your support system (both personal or work) for help when you have too much on your plate then yes you will be stressed out and will be lacking balance.
A lot of us don’t like to show when we are stressed but ultimately it is better for both you and those around you for you to ask for help before you completely burn out.
Habit 8: Make time for your interests or passions
Self love isn’t just about self care and kind words– it is also about making time and prioritizing your interests or passions.
If all you do is work and family responsibilities then you don’t have a healthy outlet that brings you joy and stress-free time. And that doesn’t mean to ignore your work, school, kids, partner or anything like that. It just means that you need balance in your life and a healthy outlet so you can be your happiest and best self.
So start making your healthy outlets and hobbies more of a priority if you want to live a less stressful life.
