I am the biggest fan of walking for fitness, time outside, exercising the pup and generally clearing my mind. And when I say the biggest I mean it- in 2024 I averaged 22k steps a day! But my insane obsessions aside let’s talk about one of my favorite things for walks- audiobooks. Specifically, audiobooks that fit the mood of the walk. And when it’s a mood focused on improving myself then I head right to my self improvement books TBR.
But I know I am not the only one who struggles with finding non fiction books that keep yourself focused and engaged. So when I find ones that do I scream them from the rooftop. And my rooftop today is this article all about my favorite self improvement audiobooks for walks. We can all work smarter, not harder this year and work on bettering ourselves while enjoying our daily walks.
Let’s get into it!

Self Improvement Audiobooks For Walks: Work Smarter, Not Harder
Audiobooks that help for your self improvement journey:
1. Atomic Habits by James Clear
Let’s get the most cliche one (but for a very good reason) out of the way first!
Learn how small habits can lead to big changes in your life. James Clear breaks down the science of habit-building in an easy-to-digest way, making this audiobook the perfect motivator for creating positive routines during your walks.
This book has been life changing for me implementing little habits into my days that have transformed my life (like listening to a new summary while getting ready in the morning!) and I HIGHLY recommend it my friends!
2. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
A mindfulness classic, this book helps you stay grounded in the present moment. Tolleโs narration pairs like a dream with a peaceful stroll, making every step a meditation. If you are struggling with feeling removed from your body and out of touch with your soul then put this audiobook at the very top of your list.
3. How to Talk to Anyone: 92 Little Tricks for Big Success in Relationships by Levi Lowndes
Learning how to better talk to people in every area of your life is a huge for self improvement. Being a better small talker can help you move mountains in the world! So I highly recommend adding this to your list.
4. Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout by Cal Newport
So if you are new around here this is one of my biggest passions on here because it is so important! Burning out happens so quickly when you are motivated and inspired to better yourself. Something that can be amazing can also be a double edged sword.
If you relate to these sentiments then you need to listen to this on your next walk!
5. How to Trick Yourself into Doing Things You Hate by Peter Hollins
Your brain can be your bestie if you let it. And that is why I love this book! Helpful and practical advice for tricking your mind into actually working for you and in your favor.
If you have been struggling with being stopped and logged down by your own thoughts then this would be the book to add to the top of your list.
6. The Next Conversation: Argue Less, Talk More by Jefferson Fisher
Conflict is inevitable in life. But being prepared for those hard conversations is a tool we can all use in our toolboxes. So on your next hot girl walk take some time to learn about never winning arguments (hear them out!) and setting boundaries.
7. The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma
The concepts behind this changed my life. That sounds dramatic but truly learning about the physical impact of mental stresses has changed how I approach my mental health. Nothing has motivated me more!
And I truly hope that you take the time to read this or another similar favorite When the body says no: the cost of hidden stress.
8. I Thought It Was Just Me (but it isnโt): Telling the Truth about Perfectionism, Inadequacy, and Power by Brenรฉ Brown
Really anything that jumps out at you by Brenรฉ Brown should be added to your list. Have you ever seen her quotes around Pinterest? Probably! And not just because someone puts them on aesthetic backgrounds- it’s because her words are some of the most inspiring ones I have read.
As someone who struggles with perfectionism (read about that journey here) this one had immediately jumped out at me. Hopefully her words inspire you on your next walk!
9. How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t: 14 Habits That Are Holding You Back from Happiness by Andrea Owen
Sometimes we need a little tough love from a life coach.
And if that sounds like something that would inspire into getting up and forming some habits that will make you feel genuinely better then add this to your TBR right now. OR should I call it TBL (to be listened) for audiobooks?!
Now that we have chatted about these self improvement books that I have been loving and I truly hope inspire you it’s time to pick one that stands out and get to listening! Enjoy your walk and the fresh air and learn a thing or two along the way this year.
