How To Power Clean Your House in 30 Minutes

Steps and tips to efficiently cleaning your whole home in 30 minutes:

1. Gather Supplies: Before you start, gather all the cleaning supplies you’ll need. This might include a vacuum cleaner, microfiber cloths, all-purpose cleaner, trash bags, a broom, mop, and any other specific cleaning products you use.

2. Set a Timer: Set a timer for 30 minutes. Having a timer will help you stay focused and avoid spending too much time on any one task.

Grab a physical timer like this one if you don’t want to be distracted by your phone at all!

3. Declutter: Start by quickly going through each room and decluttering. Pick up any items that are out of place and put them back where they belong. You can use a laundry basket to quickly collect items that belong in different rooms and sort them later.

4. High-Traffic Areas: Focus on the high-traffic areas of your home, such as the living room, kitchen, and bathroom. These areas tend to get messier quickly.

5. Quick Dusting: Use a microfiber cloth to quickly dust surfaces like countertops, tables, and shelves. Focus on visible dust and dirt.

6. Vacuum/Sweep: Vacuum carpets and rugs in the living room and bedrooms. If you have hard floors, sweep them quickly. Focus on the most noticeable areas.

Note: getting a robot vacuum can also help save so much time! You can even start it on one floor and let it go for 15 minutes then switch it to the next floor as well. If you really feel that it benefits you they even have robot mops now. Though I haven’t personally tried the robot mop but I swear by robot vacuums. They save so much time!

7. Wipe Surfaces: Wipe down kitchen countertops, bathroom surfaces, and any other visibly dirty areas using an all-purpose cleaner and a cloth.

8. Tackle the Bathroom: Clean the toilet, sink, and mirror in the bathroom. Use a toilet brush and bathroom cleaner for the toilet and a glass cleaner for the mirror.

Tip: try using the top to bottom method. Clean starting up top and move downwards so that any dust/dirt falls down and gets cleaned all at once rather than repeatedly cleaning areas. This can be a huge time saver!

9. Kitchen Cleanup: Quickly wash any dirty dishes or load them into the dishwasher. Wipe down the kitchen sink and stove.

10. Trash and Recycling: Empty trash cans in the main areas of your home and replace the bags.

11. Floors: Mop the kitchen and bathroom floors quickly. If there are spills or spots on other floors, clean those as well.

12. Make Beds: Straighten the bed linens in the bedrooms. It doesn’t need to be perfect, just enough to make the rooms look tidier.

Perfect corners aren’t necessary but generally made beds really do make any bedroom feel a lot cleaner and ready for the next night of sleep.

13. Final Touches: With a few minutes left on the timer, do a quick walkthrough of your home. If you see any areas that need a quick touch-up, address them.

14. Stop When the Timer Ends: When the timer goes off, stop cleaning even if you haven’t completed every task. The goal is to have a generally tidy and presentable home, not perfection.

Remember, this is a speed-cleaning routine, so you won’t be able to deep clean every corner of your house. The focus is on making your home look neater and more inviting in a short amount of time. If you have more time available later, you can tackle deeper cleaning tasks.
