Columbus Food- Anniversary Dinner Edition

Yesterday we celebrated 4 years together which also means 4 years of trying to figure out where we want to go to dinner lol! Firebird’s was recommended by a friend who’s taste I trust more than anyone so we thought our anniversary was a great night to try it out.

Firebird’s is a Wood Fired Grill restaurant with a couple locations throughout America. For Columbus locals- it is located at Polaris.

Drinks – I’m not capable of passing up a spicy margarita even if it doesn’t fit the meal… and I can’t say I was disappointed with my decision. This is the “Slow Burn Margarita : Hornito’s Black Barrel Tequila, Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur, pineapple elixir and lime juice (160 cal.). It had a bit of a kick to it but not too much that it wasn’t enjoyable/ easy to drink. Not to mention it was so darn cute!

Appetizers – When I was peaking around the menu this is what sold me – Jalapeno Deviled Eggs. This dressed up appetizer was amazing. The bacon was thicker than I expected and the perfect touch that added a fun spin. Matt isn’t a big deviled eggs fan but even he liked them, specifically he stated “wow they don’t taste too eggy”.

They also have a lobster spinach queso that sounds and looked wonderful that I will need to try next time – if you have ever had it let me know how it was!!

My entree- 7oz Filet Mignon cooked medium-well butterfly style and wrapped in bacon (yum). For my side I got the Parmesan Mashed potatoes which were fantastic. I am not usually someone who goes for a cut of meat for dinner but I gave this a try and was overall really happy with it. For anyone else that prefers low to no pink on their red meat then this is a great restaurant, they cooked it exactly how I asked!

Center-cut, wrapped in applewood-smoked bacon (340/410 cal.)

Matt’s entree- 14oz Ribeye cooked medium-rare. His side was a loaded baked potato. He had zero complaints and agreed that they cooked it perfectly. He ate the whole potato before I even got the chance to ask for a bite haha he loved it!!

Traditional ribeye, choice of side (660 cal.)

All entrées are served with your choice of loaded baked potato, parmesan mashed potatoes or seasoned steak fries. Every Firebirds steak is aged 21 days and hand-cut daily.

When we sat down our waiter asked what brought us in and when we told him our 4th anniversary not only was he so sweet about it- he also got all their wait staff to sign an adorable card!!

Overall we had a lovely dinner and I can’t wait to go back!

Cheers to trying new places and exploring your city!
